The wine
Tignanello changed Italian wine, the Super Tuscan that broke from convention to blend Sangiovese with Cabernet. Antinori farms its namesake Chianti Classico vineyard with half a century of refinement behind it. The 2022 is polished and aromatic, a benchmark that balances Sangiovese's savoury soul with Cabernet's dark frame.
Deep ruby, it leads with black cherry, plum and redcurrant over violet, cedar, tobacco and a curl of sweet spice. The palate is supple yet structured, ripe dark fruit threaded with graphite, dried herb and fine oak. Tannins are firm and silky, the Sangiovese acidity keeping it fresh and lifted. The finish is long, savoury and elegantly spiced.
