Soldera, Case Basse 2020

Few names in wine are spoken with this much reverence. From a single walled garden of Sangiovese above Montalcino, farmed without compromise and aged slowly in large Slavonian oak, Soldera is less a bottle than a point of view. Pour it and the room goes quiet.

Pale garnet in the glass, deceptively delicate, then it simply does not end: wild cherry and dried rose, blood orange, forest floor, sweet tobacco and a thread of something almost saline. The tannins are fine as silk, the acidity bright enough to carry it for decades. This is Sangiovese at its most transparent and its most profound, a wine that rewards patience and quietly humbles everything poured beside it.
