The wine
Cerbaiona's tiny estate east of Montalcino became a cult name under aviator Diego Molinari and has only burnished its standing since. This Rosso, Sangiovese Grosso from younger vines and a warm 2022, offers the house style in a more immediate register: a junior Brunello with serious bones.
Bright ruby. Aromas of fresh red cherry, wild strawberry, dried herbs and a dusting of earth and tobacco. The palate is energetic and finely drawn, sapid acidity lifting red fruit across tannins that are firm but already approachable. There is a stony, savoury undercurrent that marks the Cerbaiona terroir. The finish is clean, herbal and persistent, an invitation to the table.
