The wine
A First Growth that needs no introduction, Mouton-Rothschild crowns the gravel terraces of northern Pauillac with Cabernet-driven grandeur. The 2018 is a benchmark vintage here: ripe, deep and architectural, a wine built to outlive everyone who tastes it young. Power and finesse hold each other in perfect tension.
Near-opaque purple-black, releasing cassis, graphite, cedar and a curl of pipe tobacco. The palate is vast yet exquisitely framed, blackcurrant and bramble wrapped in cedar and crushed violet, with tannins that are firm, polished and seemingly endless. Pencil shavings, espresso and mineral length carry a finish that refuses to fade. Monumental, and only beginning.
