The wine
From a south-facing amphitheatre in Neive, the Cigliuti family farm Serraboella as a family always has: by hand, with no shortcuts. This is Barbaresco in its old, uncompromising register, a Nebbiolo that asks for patience and rewards it tenfold. The 2019 vintage gives it both flesh and spine.
Garnet at the rim, with aromas of dried rose, wild raspberry and sweet earth lifting from the glass. The palate is firm and finely drawn, tannins like cured leather over red cherry and crushed stone. Sandalwood and tar arrive late, and the finish lingers savoury, bright and long, classic Serraboella iron underneath the fruit.
