The wine
No name carries the mystique of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, and Richebourg is its most sumptuous, voluptuous expression. The 2011, now in fine maturity, shows the grand cru's opulent power tempered by the estate's peerless finesse. This is Burgundy at the very summit, both flesh and filigree.
Glowing garnet, it unfolds slowly on black cherry, raspberry, rose and violet over truffle, exotic spice, sandalwood and forest floor. The palate is rich and profound, layers of fruit dissolving into savoury, tertiary complexity, tannins now silken and resolved. The acidity remains vivid, lending impossible length. The finish is endless, perfumed and otherworldly.
