The wine
Clos des Lambrays is a near-monopole grand cru in Morey-Saint-Denis, a single walled vineyard farmed as one expressive whole. The domaine's Pinot Noir favours elegance and lift over brute force, often with a portion of whole-cluster fermentation. The cool, classical 2021 plays straight to that signature of finesse and perfume.
Translucent ruby, the nose is heady and high-toned: red cherry, cranberry, violet and rose, with whole-bunch notes of crushed stem and pink peppercorn. The palate is silken and beautifully detailed, tannins ultra-fine, acidity bright and cool. Wild herb, mineral and red fruit echo through a long, airy, almost weightless finish of real precision.
