The wine
A near-monopole grand cru in Morey-Saint-Denis, the Clos des Lambrays sits in a single estate's hands, farmed as one continuous slope. The 2016 captures everything that sets it apart: red-fruited delicacy wrapped around a spine of cool, savoury minerality. A grand cru that persuades rather than shouts.
Pale ruby in the glass, lifted by raspberry, rose petal and crushed violet. The palate is silken yet incisive, with wild strawberry, forest floor and a thread of spice. Tannins are fine and dusted, the acidity keeping everything taut. The finish lingers on stone and sous-bois, unhurried.
