The wine
Chapelle-Chambertin ranks among Gevrey's grand crus, a small, gravelly site yielding wines of perfume and finesse rather than brute power. Drouhin-Laroze, a long-established Gevrey domaine, has sharpened its game in recent vintages. The 2022 is lifted and aromatic, grand cru breeding worn with grace and a sappy, energetic core.
Gleaming ruby, the nose climbs through black cherry, redcurrant, violet and a savoury note of crushed herb and incense. The palate is elegant and tensile, red and black fruit lined with graphite and a whisper of oak spice. Tannins are fine and firm, acidity bright and lifting. The finish is mineral, floral and long.
Why we chose it
“Gevrey's chapel of perfume. Power that arrives as grace, not force.”
