The wine
Drouhin-Laroze holds an enviable parcel in Clos de Vougeot, the vast walled grand cru at the heart of the Côte de Nuits. Their Pinot leans powerful and earthy, true to the clos's deeper soils. The 2022, ripe yet fresh, gives that strength real perfume, a grand cru of weight and breeding.
Deep ruby. Black cherry, raspberry, and dark plum open the nose, joined by violet, undergrowth, sweet spice, and a savoury, gamey note. The palate is broad and structured, firm fine-grained tannins carrying concentrated red and black fruit, acidity keeping it lively. Oak is well-judged. The finish is long and earthy, closing on dark cherry, truffle, and forest floor.
