The wine
Boutique Tuscan grower Fioretti turns to Bordeaux varieties for Santinovo, a polished Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc blend bottled under the freedom of Toscana IGT. The warm, even 2021 vintage gives ripe fruit and supple structure. It is a sleek, contemporary reading of Tuscany's affinity for the international grapes.
Deep ruby-violet, it opens on cassis, blackberry and ripe black plum, with Cabernet Franc lending violet and a green-herb lift. The palate is smooth and modern, tannins ripe and rounded, oak woven in as cedar and sweet vanilla. Dark chocolate, mint and a graphite edge follow through a clean, generous, well-framed finish.
