The wine
From the warm amphitheatre of Panzano's Conca d'Oro, Fontodi's Giovanni Manetti farms biodynamically to bottle one of Tuscany's great single-vineyard Sangiovese. Flaccianello is Chianti Classico's heart distilled into IGT freedom, and the generous 2015 vintage gives it depth without sacrificing the granite spine beneath.
Deep garnet in the glass, it opens on black cherry, dried rose and crushed violet, then turns savoury with leather, sweet tobacco and a thread of balsamic. The palate is dense yet lifted, tannins fine-grained and chalky, acidity cutting clean through the fruit. A long, mineral, faintly bitter finish marks it unmistakably Sangiovese.
