The wine
Cannubi is Barolo's most fabled hill, its blend of soils yielding Nebbiolo of perfume and precision. Francesco Rinaldi, a classicist house in the heart of Barolo, captures it faithfully, and the structured 2019 vintage promises a long, slow ascent toward greatness.
Pale garnet already easing to brick. The nose is heady and lifted: red cherry, dried rose, tar, anise, leather, and a dusty earth note. The palate is firm and aromatic, red fruit drawn tight over Nebbiolo's signature grip of fine, drying tannin and bright acidity. Savoury, mineral, and very long, built for the cellar.
