The wine
La Serena's Gemini is a Riserva made only in the finest years, and 2016 stands among Montalcino's greatest modern vintages. This Sangiovese Grosso, raised long in oak, marries depth with the year's pristine balance, a wine of gravity built for the very long haul.
Deep, luminous garnet. The bouquet is profound and slow to unfurl: black cherry, dried fig, tobacco, sweet spice, leather, and a forest-floor earthiness. The palate is dense and beautifully framed, concentrated dark fruit wrapped in firm, polished tannin and bright, lifting acidity. The finish is vast, mineral, and seemingly without end.
