The wine
Le Dôme is Jonathan Maltus's Cabernet Franc statement, a tiny vineyard on the limestone plateau near Angélus turned into one of Saint-Émilion's most singular wines. The 2015, a benchmark Right Bank vintage, marries opulence with structure. Franc-driven and unapologetically bold, it announces itself without ever shouting.
Deep, saturated ruby. The nose surges with black cherry, blackberry, and violet, then graphite, cedar, espresso, and a leafy Franc lift. The palate is plush yet firmly built, ripe tannins coating a core of dark fruit, acidity threading through the richness. Oak is polished and well-judged. A long, layered finish of cassis, tobacco, and warm stone.
Why we chose it
“Cabernet Franc dressed in velvet, with iron in its frame.”
