The wine
Pierre Girardin, the young Burgundian making a name for clarity and gentle extraction, draws this from Les Grands Épenots, the most refined climat of the Pommard appellation. The 2022 vintage lends ripeness and charm to a village often defined by its muscle, softening Pommard's frame without dulling its spine.
Bright ruby in the glass. The nose offers black cherry, raspberry, violet, and a flicker of woodland earth and crushed stone. The palate is sappy and well-knit, red and dark fruit carried on fine-grained, gently firm tannin. Energetic acidity drives a long, mineral, savoury finish.
Why we chose it
“Pommard with the fist unclenched. Power in velvet, fruit with backbone.”
