The wine
Tucked into the cooler heights above Beaune, Les Monts farm this monopole, Les Crucibees, in the Hautes-Côtes, where elevation buys freshness and a leaner cut of Pinot Noir. The 2023 is honest, energetic Burgundy, made for the pleasure of the near term rather than the cellar's long wait.
Bright crimson, light and clear. The nose springs with red cherry, cranberry, wild strawberry, and a green herbal lift. The palate is juicy and lithe, tart red fruit threaded with brisk acidity and soft, easy tannin. Fresh, chalky, and moreish through a clean, vivid finish.
