The wine
Marion farms the eastern hills of Valpolicella with an uncompromising, traditional hand, and its Amarone is among the appellation's most concentrated. Built from dried Corvina and its companions, the 2019 is monumental yet remarkably composed, the appassimento richness held in check by genuine freshness and depth.
Deep, dense garnet, it billows with dried cherry, fig, plum compote and raisin over chocolate, sweet spice and a balsamic edge. The palate is full-bodied and velvety, the concentrated dark fruit lifted by surprising acidity and a savoury, almost bitter-almond twist. Powerful tannins give grip without astringency. The finish is long, warming and lingeringly sweet-savoury.
Why we chose it
“Dried-grape power with a beating pulse of freshness. Winter in a glass.”
