Marion, "Raro" Cabernet Sauvignon 2007

Raro is Marion's rarity, a Veneto Cabernet Sauvignon now carrying nearly two decades of bottle age. From the same uncompromising hands behind its Amarone, this is a wine that has shed its youthful armour and entered a mature, savoury phase. A Cabernet of place and patience, fully resolved.

Maturing garnet with a brick rim, it opens on stewed blackcurrant, dried cherry and tobacco leaf over leather, cedar, truffle and sweet earth. The palate is supple and tertiary, the fruit gently faded into savoury complexity, tannins long since softened to silk. Mellow acidity holds the frame, and the finish carries graphite, dried herb and forest floor.
