The wine
The Pauillac is Latour's third wine, yet it carries the unmistakable stamp of one of Bordeaux's greatest terroirs and its first growth precision. The 2016, a near-perfect Médoc vintage, brings purity and structure in rare balance. Consider it the first growth's grammar in a more accessible sentence, fully Latour in spirit.
Deep ruby with a violet sheen. Cassis, black cherry, and blackberry rise first, then cedar, graphite, dried flowers, and Pauillac's signature gravel. The palate is precise and finely structured, firm tannins carrying cool black fruit, acidity bright and lifting. Oak is discreet. The finish is long, mineral, and classically restrained, closing on cassis and crushed stone.
Why we chose it
“First growth grammar in a humbler sentence. Unmistakably Latour.”
