The wine
Les Perrieres is Meursault's most celebrated premier cru, the climat many argue deserves grand cru rank, and Pierre Girardin handles it with the assurance of a name on the rise. Chardonnay from these stony slopes gives Meursault's richness an unusual mineral edge. The balanced 2022 vintage frames power with poise.
Gleaming gold, it opens on ripe pear, white peach, hazelnut and brioche, with the cool, stony cut Perrieres is famed for. The palate is broad and creamy yet driven by saline acidity and a flinty, oyster-shell tension that keeps the weight in check. Toasted nut, lemon curd and crushed rock carry a long, mineral, beautifully balanced finish.
