The wine
Pierre Girardin has risen fast among white Burgundy's young guard, and his village Puligny-Montrachet shows the precision behind the hype. Chardonnay from the commune that prizes tension above all, raised with restraint and minimal sulphur. The ripe 2023 vintage lends flesh while keeping Puligny's signature steel intact.
Pale gold with a green cast, it offers white flowers, lemon, green apple and a chalky, struck-flint minerality, with subtle toast beneath. The palate is taut and saline, fruit bright and citrus-driven, acidity racing through a lean, mineral frame. Crushed stone, almond and lemon zest carry a long, vibrant, mouth-watering finish of real cut.
Why we chose it
“Puligny at village level, all tension and chalk: white Burgundy without a safety net.”
