The wine
Pierre Girardin, a young talent who has risen fast, draws from Romanée-Saint-Vivant, the silken grand cru neighbouring Romanée-Conti itself. Here Pinot Noir trades muscle for grace and aromatic lift. The 2022 is all delicacy and detail, a wine of perfume and precision from one of Vosne's most hallowed slopes.
Luminous ruby. The nose is high-toned and intricate: red cherry, wild raspberry, and rose, then violet, exotic spice, and a delicate forest-floor undertone. The palate is silky and finely sprung, satiny tannins framing pure red fruit, acidity carrying it with weightless length. Oak is invisible. The finish is long and lacy, drifting on red berries, potpourri, and cool stone.
