The wine
Pierre Girardin has become one of the Côte d'Or's most arresting young voices, and Les Suchots sits among Vosne-Romanée's most coveted premier crus, flanking the grand crus themselves. The 2022 channels that hallowed ground into a wine of exotic perfume and precision, opulent fruit reined in by classy structure.
Vivid ruby, the glass fills with black cherry, blueberry, violet and a curl of Asian spice. The palate is sumptuous yet detailed, dark fruit layered over graphite and a faint sappy freshness. Tannins are ripe and polished, the line of acidity keeping the whole upright. Spice and crushed stone trail the long finish.
