Scribe, Cabernet Sauvignon "Moon Mountain" 2020

Scribe farms with a restless, new-California sensibility from its hacienda above the town of Sonoma. This Cabernet comes from the volcanic, high-elevation Moon Mountain District, where thin soils and altitude yield fruit of unusual freshness. The 2020 is California Cabernet reimagined: aromatic, savoury and built more for tension than weight.

Deep ruby with a violet cast. The nose is fragrant and wild: blackcurrant, cherry, dried sage, crushed rock and a graphite edge from the volcanic soils. The palate is medium to full, with energetic acidity, fine mountain tannins and a core of dark berry kept lean and savoury. Bay leaf and cedar emerge with air. The finish is long, mineral and refreshingly cool.
