The wine
One of Pomerol's true blue-bloods, Trotanoy sits on a knoll of clay and gravel that gives Merlot a density few estates can match. Under the Moueix hand, it is a wine of quiet power and aristocratic restraint. The opulent 2009 vintage finds the estate in generous, gloriously plush form.
Deep, brooding garnet at the core, exhaling black plum, truffle and warm violet. The palate is sumptuous yet poised, layered with crème de cassis, dark chocolate and a savoury iron note that signals the clay beneath. Tannins are velvet over structure, and the finish unfurls slowly: smoke, liquorice and mineral depth that lingers for minutes.
