The wine
Trotanoy is Pomerol aristocracy, a small Moueix estate on the plateau's blue clay and gravel, long regarded as a near-neighbour to Petrus in spirit. Merlot grown on these dense soils gives uncommon depth and minerality. The complete, structured 2019 vintage ranks among the property's modern triumphs.
Deep, dark ruby, it leads with black cherry, plum and blackberry, threaded with violet, truffle, cocoa and a wet-stone, ferrous minerality. The palate is profound and concentrated, Merlot's flesh underpinned by serious clay-bred tannin and bright acidity. Mocha, earth and dark fruit resound through a long, structured, gravely powerful finish.
