The wine
Il Caberlot is the grand cuvée of Podere Il Carnasciale, the magnum-only flagship of that lone Caberlot vine in the Valdarno hills. This Sommelleria release is a special bottling of one of Tuscany's rarest wines, a grape that grows nowhere else on earth, drawn from the balanced 2020 vintage.
Deep, saturated ruby-purple. The bouquet is layered and aromatic: cassis, dark plum, violet, graphite and a cool note of crushed bay leaf. The palate is concentrated yet elegant, dense black fruit wrapped in tannins of velvet, threaded by Cabernet Franc's herbal lift and fine acidity. Cedar and dark spice build with air. The finish is long, polished and quietly profound.
