The wine
Born of the youngest vines and strictest selection at Château Mouton-Rothschild, Le Petit Mouton carries the first-growth's stamp into a wine of nearer reach. The exceptional 2016 vintage, all freshness and fine tannin, makes this Pauillac sing well ahead of its grand sibling.
Deep, brooding garnet. The nose is classic Pauillac: blackcurrant, blackberry, pencil shaving, cedar, and a curl of fine tobacco. The palate is structured and svelte, dark fruit set on firm, polished tannin and a bright, lifted acidity. The finish is long, graphite-laced, and built to deepen with cellar time.
Why we chose it
“First-growth breeding in a younger frame. Pauillac cassis and cedar, beautifully drawn.”
