The wine
From La Serra, a high cru in La Morra, Cesare Bussolo coaxes a perfumed, classically styled Barolo. Nebbiolo from these elevated marls leans toward grace and fragrance over brawn. The 2020 is elegant and aromatic, traditional Barolo that charms early yet holds the structure to reward years in the cellar.
Pale garnet with an orange rim. The nose lifts with red cherry, dried rose, and raspberry, then tar, liquorice, sweet spice, and a dusty earthen note. The palate is supple yet firmly framed, fine drying tannins carrying red fruit, acidity bright and energising. Oak stays in the background. The finish is long and savoury, fading on sour cherry, rose, and tar.
