The wine
Brothers Camille and Guillaume Boillot continue a storied Cote de Beaune lineage, and Le Cailleret is among Puligny's finest premiers crus, abutting the Montrachet grand cru itself. Chardonnay from this privileged slope marries power with cut. The generous 2023 vintage gives the wine flesh without dulling its formidable mineral spine.
Bright gold-green, it lifts with white peach, citrus blossom, hazelnut and acacia honey over a deep, struck-flint minerality. The palate is broad and powerful yet finely chiselled, ripe fruit held taut by saline acidity and a stony, almost grand-cru grip. Lemon oil, toasted nut and oyster shell stretch across a long, layered, resonant finish.
