The wine
Les Renardes is one of the powerhouse climats of the Corton hill, all iron and muscle, and the young Boillot brothers bring brightness and lift to its considerable frame. This is grand cru built on structure, the brooding red counterpoint to Corton's famous whites. The 2023 vintage is deep, firm and full of promise.
Dense ruby-purple, releasing black cherry, cassis, dried herb and a ferrous, almost bloody mineral note. The palate is broad and powerful, dark-fruited and savoury, with firm, grippy tannins and a smoky, iron-laced core that signals the Corton hill. Liquorice, violet and crushed stone build toward a long, structured finish. Muscular grand cru that demands time to unfurl.
