The wine
Les Champs Gain is a sizeable premier cru high on the Puligny slope, prized for its mineral cut, and the Boillot brothers handle it with freshness and restraint. This is Puligny of nerve and energy, structured around tension rather than weight. The 2023 vintage is bright, precise and finely sculpted, premier cru with real drive.
Pale gold-green in the glass, lifting green apple, white peach, citrus blossom and a chalky struck-flint note. The palate is taut and saline, crisp orchard fruit and lemon stretched over a stony mineral spine, with a light creamy texture from measured élevage. Hazelnut and crushed stone extend a long, racy finish. Mineral-driven Puligny built for the cellar.
Why we chose it
“Puligny nerve: green apple, flint, and stony drive sculpted for the long game.”
